A society that permits the death of trauma victims rather than pursuing justice, restoration, and healing abandons the most vulnerable when they most need protection.
The left is anything but empathetic, they don’t care about anyone but their end goals to dismantle society. They gleefully itch to make the “powerful and privileged” into the new downtrodden class. There won’t be a civil rights or NAACP movement for us when that happens, it would be labeled as the “KKK resurrected” and be crushed immediately.
Wow Daisy --You absolutely got straight to the heart of the question.
What kind of a society are we, what kind of society will we have, if we push victims to the side (or to death) while allowing the perpetrators off the hook.
Isn't that the basic difference between cilvilized people--we love life...and the barbarians who are a death cult?
The ECHR decision is a disgrace and despicable. It does not disclose justice but a gross form of utilitarian administration. That in turn discloses an "unhuman"- to use a term of Jack Posobiec-, trend by the socialist-leaning administrative state. Her father's standing before the law ought to have been of greater weight. The moral and ethical guardrails of conscience of the actors in this case, notably the Court'. are a pile of scattered (diabolos) rubble in this case.
I could not agree more Daisy Mae - an excellent piece. Everywhere around the Western World it seems that perpetrator's 'rights' are being preferred to those of their victims. I will try to get this thought piece to one of our prominent Members of Parliament in New Zealand. Mark Copeland
Excellent article although tragic story. How pathetic is the judicial system - it seems ironic that the system intended to help and support people/victims works so easily against them
While trauma victims may be a visible example of the problems, the choice of whether society permits or even encourages suicide is far larger. Either human life has intrinsic value or it doesn't. Either moral standards are universal or the individual's will must always triumph.
We won't "restore the West" until we restore innate human dignity. And sometimes, that means limiting choices. Socially defined guardrails aren't usually oppressive. Rather they steer people's choices toward those known to result in happier, more meaningful, and (as a side benefit) socially productive lives. Killing yourself is none of those 3.
Considering your argument, how come you write nothing about the perpetrators and what consequences, if any, they suffered? The silence is an indictment against your line of reasoning, isn't it?
And really, if the state fails to uphold its end of the deal, about the citizens surrendering the prerogative to seek their own restoration of dignity and respect through retribution, or in other words "taking the law into their own hands", in exchange for protection by the state, the breach of contract forms a legitimate challenge to state authority that must be resolved if the rule of law is to last.

Their end goal is Utopia, socialism is the path. A rainbow on the way to the pot of gold
Spain, much like England and France, has sacrificed its honor and dignity on the altar of leftist immorality.

It's so sad. It is a failure of justice and an illustration of the lack of moral clarity in Western culture today.
Failure or on purpose when ppl weren’t looking?
Point is the system failed her whether deliberate or not.

Thank you Mark!
A society that devalues life, for any reason, has no moral compass and will eventually fall victim to its own ignorance.
Excellent article although tragic story. How pathetic is the judicial system - it seems ironic that the system intended to help and support people/victims works so easily against them
A society that legally kills its own citizens is by definition evil and immoral Judgement day will be cruel for those that participate in this evil.
This is a heartbreaking story but I’m glad you made it known because the implications are severe if this trend is not reversed.
Your bottom line here misstates the choice.

This topic is incredibly important. I am reading Hirsi Ali’s “Heretic” and it gives mind-blowing insights.
