I’m eager to see the movie! I can vouch for what Aitch says: having a person with Down Syndrome in your life is absolutely a blessing! The innocent way they look at the world and love everyone around them has led my husband to say that maybe WE (the “normal” ones) are the ones who are handicapped!

Would this be suitable to watch with kids? Does it talk about abortion explicitly? I have a disabled son for whom I was offered a termination, and I want to protect him from that conversation until he is old enough to handle it.

For children like this, I always worry about what happens after they are too big for the parents to take care of...or after the parents pass away.

Not everyone wants to be saddled with a lifetime of having to take care of someone who’s mentally challenged.

Big surprise—they’re the same folks not wanting to be saddled with even a few years caring for their elderly parents, disabled or not!
